Recent Jaunts...

On Wednesday our favorite sandwich shop opened up after it's summer break. We *had* to go to Candy's! I had my cajun chicken, salad and mayonaisse on a white baguette. (Jealous much, Danielle?) Stuart's favorite is the BBQ chicken with coleslaw on white.

On Thursday we went a billion places. First we went to Forfar and browsed around some charity shops. Stuart got a kilt last week and we'd gotten all the bits and pieces to finish the outfit but in one of the charity shops we miraculously found some really nice brogues in his size for £7, £13 cheaper than the ones we got him the day before so we promptly returned the expensive ones.
We'd taken a traditional Stronach family picnic with us but mum bought some Forfar Bridies and we couldn't eat our picnic...
She also got some Strawberry tarts and meringues. Yummy!
Forfar is an old town...
There's lots of little alley ways...

It was my mum's idea to pose for this picture but she couldn't control her happy face for a second...

The sign above our head is this... It's for a tanning salon.

We then headed off to Glamis Castle. The most haunted castle in the UK and where the Queen Mother lived...

THEN, we headed off to Kirriemuir; birthplace of J.M Barrie, author of Peter Pan... see?
We didn't go on the tour of his house but we did sneak into his outhouse which was actually his first theatre... Behind the door was a big crocodile with a little alarm clock in it's mouth. I was terrified.
We also went to see his grave. It was hard to find his grave because it's shared with a kajillion other Barrie's... Then we went to drive about and found a random standing stone.
My dad informed me that 200 steps away from the stone there's an upturned tree with it's roots sticking up in the air. He thinks it's an old alter... This makes sense to him.
After that we went home. It was a long day of walking and we had an even bigger adventure coming the next day...
